“Healing Hands”
Localaid is formally registered in Kenya in 2009 by Somar Homeh ( the girl in the photo) who visited Kenya experiencing first-hand the many disadvantages of the members of the community.Lack of individual identity, poverty, a failing health system unable to meet the growing needs of a country ravaged by the HIV/AID’S epidemic, lack of eduaction in repsct to both general academicdevelopment and basic health awareness are all issues that she was directly confronted with. Certainly the most heartbreaking of all was witnessing homeless street children abandoned by society and exposed to all forms of violence, exploitation nd abuse.
Localaid has established a centre to rehabilitate, offer health care, food and nutrition aid and education for street children. This gives them an opportunity to live full and rewarding lives and in-turn become positive members of society. We also offer health care services to the local commuinty though our health clinic, established primiraly to assist people living with HIV/AIDS along with providing other basic health care services.

An old man walking along a beach at dawn noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and gently tossing them back into the sea. Catching up with the youth he asked what he was doing.
“The starfish will die if they are still on the beach when the sun comes up high. It will roast them with its mid-morning heat,” he replied.
“But the beach goes on for miles, and there are millions of starfish,” countered the old man. “How can your effort make any difference?”
The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and gently tossed it safely in the waves. He then looks back at the man and says
“It makes a difference to this one.”
